Valentines Day
Each year is unique in its own way. 2024's Valentines Day was blessed with some light showers of rain as we also showered our family and friends with Godly love on this special day. The 14th of February, was filled with joy and friendship as we celebrate the love of God for us as a school. It is also important to note that, God's love amongst ourselves, supersedes all the the other types of love people may celebrate.
The Valentines Day celebration was painted with red, white, pink and other colourful types of dressing. To emphasise on the root of love, which is giving; learners made various well decorated gift items which they took home to share with their parents and family members. To seal this wonderful day off, all the learners in their varying grades, heartily performed numerous arts which include poems, dance, drama, gymnastics and acrobatics, choir and speeches. These activities helped to bring out the God given talents that some of the learners have and it was such a wonder to watch.
Sports Day
01 March was such a hive of activity as the two school sports houses battle it off in a tense competition. The learners participated in various field events which includes Sprints, Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Put. We thrive to unleash extra-curricular talents through various activities, such as sports. Therefore, every first term of each year, learners participate in numerous sporting disciplines.
From Grade 1 to 10, the learners are divided into two Houses which are Kudu and Eland. It was quite exciting and competitive. At the end of the day, all houses came out victorious. We managed to identify different skills and talents, which if natured we can have competitive sportspersons who will not only represent their schools but also the nation at large.
Mothers Day
In our communities, mothers play a pivotal role in raising our children. Whether, as a biological parent or as a guardian.
Their family, societal and national contribution to the balance of our homes is a quality we celebrate every year during the mothers month in May. On the 10th of May, the learners personally made special gifts for the mothers in their lives as well as those, who with love assumed this role for their wellbeing.
Colourful and beautiful items were artistically created across the school, from Pre-school to Grade 10. These gifts were taken home as a symbol of appreciation for the love that mothers give.
Ball Games
The Soccer and Netball season came and went but the fever is still lingering in our nerves.
We had an entertaining and successful period in term 2. We had our setbacks but with more spoils to be proud of. The soccer teams mesmerized the audiences wherever we went. They played as if soccer is their first nature and wowed even their own coaches with the outstanding footwork and signature moves on the pitch.
Our netball teams also left most of their opponents running for cover. There was little and almost next to nothing that could stop them from scoring, as they were determined and dedicated to winning whatever match they played.
These teams are solid and mean business when they see the ball.
Winter Events
The month of June was loaded with various exciting activities that inflamed the end of Term 2 into merry making.
The Preschoolers had a fashionable and insightful Career Day, where they represented the areas of trade, service etc. they wish to follow when they finish school. We had Engineers, firefighters, Doctors, Scientists, Models, Teachers and Nurses just to name a few. The glowing excitement on the kids' faces was a sight to admire, as they presented their speeches and poems, related to their potential field of work.
Following after that, we had an educative and mind blowing Youth Day Celebration. We had special guests of key importance in our society, who came to grace us with their presentations and also thoughts about the areas of work they represent.
The team from Bread of Life Rehabilitation Center shared educative and life saving presentations, about the dangers of drugs and substances abuse and how they cripple the once flowery life of young people into darkness. The learners took the teachings with positive understanding, which is one of the greatest hope for the future. The second one to do a presentation to the learners, was our local DJ and upcoming musician DJ Rodgers, who gave some advice to the learners on how to become an entrepreneur as well as the importance of combining education with talent. Later on, himself and his team, performed some few songs in order to cheer up the learners who had spent most of the day taking in educative information and they were now in need of musical steam release.
We closed Term 2 in style, as we were honored to receive the reigning Mr. Tourism World, Abednigo Mabaso. We were having the school's Talent Show, where he was our main guest, as well as one of the panel of judges for the learners performances. We were so grateful to have a person of such high status to come and take part in a school's performance. That level of humbleness is something to be cherished.
He, Abednigo, had an opportunity to furnish what in his experience is the journey to success and how one should be mentally, physically, emotionally, financially and socially prepared to take the route to stardom. Learners had an opportunity for a photo shoot as well as getting autographs before we called it a day.
Mandela Month
To honour and celebrate the life and legacy of one of the greatest man to walk on earth, we as a school participated in various practical and social activities in our area. Our high school learners and teachers went to the local Shoprite Mall/Shopping Area to do a Cleaning Campaign in and around the mall.
The activities ranged from picking up papers, sweeping and racking, just to name a few. We also had an opportunity to meet with people of different walks of life and had a moment to socialize and bring awareness on how as a people we should be conscious to the needs of the less fortunate in our country.
Following after that, we had an educative and mind blowing Mandela Day Celebration. We had special guest of key importance to our school Chonette the Principal to our sister school in Hazyview , who came to grace us with a speech pertaining the legacy and good work Mandela left behind for us to emulate. She beautifully linked it to the works the bible calls each and eveyone one of us to do in order to save our community which make s Mandela day a biblical concept and idea to have an ideal society that loves and cares for each other.
